Finding time to truly unwind can feel impossible. Between work, endless notifications and everyday responsibilities, relaxation often takes a back seat. Sometimes what you really need is a few days away, surrounded by trees, fresh air and quiet.
If you’re searching for a peaceful woodland escape that’s close to both thrilling days out and breathtaking countryside, Quarry Walk Park ticks every box. Our award-winning holiday park sits in 46 acres of private woodland on the edge of the Staffordshire Moorlands. It offers the perfect blend of comfort, seclusion and accessibility for families, couples, groups and four-legged friends alike.
A Woodland Haven in the Staffordshire Moorlands
Tucked away in Freehay, near Cheadle, Quarry Walk Park gives you a genuine back-to-nature feel without sacrificing modern comforts. Walking trails wind through our 46-acre site, and the woodland is home to an abundance of wildlife, from birds and squirrels to deer.
It’s the kind of place where you arrive, step out of the car and feel yourself relax almost immediately. Yet with Alton Towers, the Peak District and the Churnet Valley all within easy reach, you’re never far from a great day out.
Award-Winning and Loved by Our Guests
We’re proud to hold a 4-star rating and a Gold award at the Enjoy Staffordshire Tourism Awards, alongside other industry recognition. Just as importantly, our guests keep coming back. Hundreds of Google reviews praise the peaceful setting, spotless accommodation, well-equipped kitchens and, of course, the hot tubs. Many describe the park as a hidden gem.
Accommodation for Every Style of Stay
Whether you’re planning a romantic break, a family holiday or a group getaway, we have a self-catering stay to suit you.
Log Cabins with Private Hot Tubs
Our log cabins sleep 2, 4 or 6 guests, and every one has its own hot tub. Each cabin has its own character:
- Woodpecker: a traditional Canadian log cabin full of authentic charm, and a favourite with couples.
- Owl Gardens: the hot tubs are set at the bottom of the garden rather than on the decking, giving you uninterrupted hillside views while you soak.
- Robin: these cabins sit in a peaceful, adults-only area with a communal garden and fire pit, ideal for quiet evenings under the stars.
- Badger: these cabins sleep larger families.
- Badger Plus: this adds thoughtful upgrades, including an en-suite bathroom, fluffy robes and a coffee machine.
Woodland Lodges
Our lodges each come with their own hot tub too. The Fox Cub Lodge offers a more modern style that’s perfect for couples. Fox Lodges 20 and 22 sleep up to six and sit right across from the children’s play area, making them a brilliant choice for families.
Travelling with friends? Dove Lodge has two master bedrooms, each with a king-size bed and its own en-suite, plus a private hot tub to share. It’s ideal for two couples who want time together without compromising on privacy.
Glamping Pods
Our glamping pods take all the hassle out of camping. Our Bluebell and Daisy Pods each have a double bed, an en-suite with a hydro massage shower, and a kitchenette. Our Plus and Wild Flower Pods add a double bunk bed and sleep up to six, perfect for families.
Pod guests share a communal fire pit and BBQ area, ideal for toasting marshmallows after a day of exploring. For groups, the pod areas can be booked for exclusive use, giving you a private space all to yourselves.
Caravan and Motorhome Pitches
Bringing your own unit? Our quiet, secluded field is reserved exclusively for Caravan and Motorhome Club members, giving you all the peace of the woodland with the freedom of touring.
Pet-Friendly Breaks
Your dog deserves a holiday too. We have pet-friendly lodges, log cabins and glamping pods that welcome up to two dogs, so no one gets left behind.
Which Stay Is Right for You?
- Couples: will love the privacy of a log cabin or lodge with a hot tub. Autumn and winter are especially romantic, and our Robin cabins offer an adults-only setting. Take a look at our couple retreat page for more ideas.
- Families: have plenty of space to relax and explore. Children love the woodland trails, the play area and saying hello to Mr Tubbs, our park mascot, at reception. Our family lodges, log cabins and pods sleep up to six, plus an infant in a travel cot.
- Groups and friends: can choose Dove Lodge or book a pod area for exclusive use, giving you room to share memories while still having your own space.
- Dog owners: can enjoy the woodland walks together, with pet-friendly options across every type of stay.

Close to Adventure and Natural Beauty
One of Quarry Walk Park’s biggest draws is its location. Alton Towers Resort is around a 10-minute drive away. You can arrive early to beat the queues and still be back in your hot tub with a drink in hand before sunset.
For those who prefer scenic landscapes, the Peak District National Park is right on the doorstep. It offers endless opportunities for hiking, cycling and exploring picturesque villages. Closer to home, the Churnet Valley and Dimmingsdale are perfect for woodland walks and country tearooms. Cannock Chase is within easy reach for a day of trails and forest views.
Time to Truly Switch Off
Taking time out in nature can do wonders for your wellbeing, helping you rest, sleep better and reconnect with the people you love. Here, switching off comes naturally.
Because of our rural location, phone signal is limited around the park, and WiFi packages are available but can’t be guaranteed. Our honest advice? Embrace it. Start your day with a coffee outdoors listening to the birdsong. Take a mindful stroll through the woodland trails. Pick up that book you’ve been meaning to read, or simply sink into the hot tub under the stars.
Tips for Your Stay
- When to visit: spring and summer are ideal for family breaks, while autumn and winter make for cosy couples’ retreats. Midweek stays are the quietest of all.
- Book early: weekends and school holidays fill up fastest, especially our lodges and log cabins with hot tubs.
- What to bring: comfortable walking boots, outdoor clothing for all weathers, and a torch for evening strolls around the park.
- Getting here: a car is essential for exploring the area, and a sat nav is handy for the country lanes.
- Eating in: every lodge and log cabin has a fully equipped kitchen and its own brick BBQ. There’s an on-site shop for essentials, and several local takeaways deliver to the park.
- Bringing your dog: remember to add your pet when you book so we can make sure you’re in a pet-friendly unit.
